My first Christmas market experience in a railway station was in Zurich. There, I came across the Christkindlimarkt inside the hall of Zurich Central Station. The festive stalls stood only a few metres away from the platforms with the international trains.
Renaissance facades and several corner oriels frame the Christmas market on the market square of Coburg. The oriels are known as Coburger Erker. Between the historic town hall and the former ducal chancery, visitors enjoy the Coburger Bratwurst. It is a sausage roasted over an open fire of pine cones. [German]
During the Christkindlesmarkt, the traditional christmas market of Nuremberg, one have the chance to ride on a 1939 reproduction of a nine-seater Berlin with two coupés from 1874. The stagecoach is supplied by the Museum for Communication which is also worth a visit.
Every year in December a medieval Christmas market takes place in front of the Museum of Military History (Heeresgeschichtlichs Museum) in Vienna. The market, which is generally named after the whole area (Arsenal) lasts only for a weekend so you should look for the exact date beforehand.
The Christmas market at Hohensalzburg Fortress can be reached by a pretty fast funicular or by a steep path nicely decorated with stars during the advent season.
The Hellbrunner Adventzauber is a Christmas market with a splendid atmosphere. It is situated on the grounds of Hellbrunn Palace (Schloss Hellbrunn) in Salzburg. About 400 trees decorated with 13,000 red Christmas balls make the market special.
An interesting detail of the Christmas market in Sankt Wolfgang (Wolfgangseer Advent) is a Christmas crib created by the wood carver Matthäus Mayrhauser. The crib consists of about 40 life-size sculptures scattered over a larger area. Everybody is invited to walk betCeen the figures so in the evening it is difficult to decide who is a real person and what is a wooden figure.
The Christmas market of Sankt Wolfgang im Salzkammergut is part of three markets (Wolfgangseer Advent) which are located around lake Wolfgangsee. So people can move from market to market by crossing the lake by boat.

Right behind the main entrance of the hospital Otto-Wagner-Spital there is a small Christmas market located. As the hospital is built in the style of Art Nouveau this market is a gem for people who are interested in this special period of architecture.
The name of the Wintermarkt (Winter market) doesn’t claim to be a Christmas market. However, I paid a visit on my Christmas market tour through Vienna as the location is unique. The market is located at the entrance area of the Wurstelprater, a fun mile from Vienna.
On my walks along the Christmas markets of Vienna I came across ovens labeled with the company sign Pickwick’s for several times. I love the style of the ovens and the sound of the company’s name. Does anyone know where this company is from and did you see this kind of ovens at the Christmas market of your place as well?
