Monument to Franz Wirer in Bad Ischl, Austria

This monument commemorates Franz Wirer von Rettenbach. He is considered the founder of the first Austrian saline water health spa in Bad Ischl. I found this bust in the local spa park (Kurpark). I was pretty impressed by the extraordinary size of the sculpture. [German]

European Capital of Culture 2024

In 2024, Bad Ischl and its neighbouring municipalities are honoured with the title “European Capital of Culture“. 23 places present the diversity of historically rooted culture and contemporary art in the region of Salzkammergut. So this year would be an opportunity to learn more about the work of Mr Wirer and the regional culture.
