In the years 1894-1896, Hotel Meissl & Schadn was erected at the Neuer Markt 2. Eduard Veith created the depicted mosaic at the rear of the hotel. The building burned down in 1945, but the mosaic is still visible at Kärntnerstrasse 16.
The mosaic shows the five continents. In the picture above, you see about a third of the work.
