In 1518, the German mathematician Adam Ries travelled to Erfurt and established a mathematics school there. At the Haus zum Schwarzen Horn (House to the Black Bugle), two of his mathematical books were published by printer Mathes Maler.
The façade of today was erected in 1549 in the Renaissance style. Above the door, you can see two black bugles referring to the name of the building. Today, the Haus zum Schwarzen Horn houses a bar & lounge named Modern Masters.
