Heading to the state exhibition 2008 of Upper Austria in Bad Goisern I left my train at this old fashioned railway station.

After visiting an exhibition in Traunkirchen I took this photo of a sundial at the walls of a former convent.

After leaving Salzkammergut Railway at station Ebensee – Landungsplatz. I had this remarkable view of Traun Lake (Traunsee). The Traunsee is the deepest lake in Austria (191 metres) and offers lovely views of high mountains and even an old castle set on a tiny island (Seeschloss Ort).

Bad Ischl was the summer resort of Franz Joseph I, emperor of Austria and king of Hungary, and his family for many years. Generally they took the train to get to their villa (Kaiservilla) in Bad Ischl. The monarchy has gone but the railway station of that time is still here.

After a walk through the Garten Tulln, I climbed up a tower (34,95 m) named Baumwipfelweg (tree top way). Though it was more a tower than a path, several protruding elements offered an exciting view of the surroundings.

On my walk through St. Pölten I came across this huge spiderweb. I guess it was sort of public art. Well, I do hope it was just public art.

On a train journey from Graz to Gmunden, I took this photo of Strechau Castle (Burg Strechau). It is considered the second-largest castle in Styria. Inside, it offers a collection of classic automobiles.

At the end of my walk through St. Veit an der Glan, I had a break at the Fuchspalast. Its name refers to the Austrian artist Ernst Fuchs, who created the remarkable design of this hotel.

I saw this Austro-Fiat AFL truck built in the 1930s as an exhibit in front of the Museum of Military History (Heeresgeschichtliche Museum) in Vienna.

The museum exhibits in a former locomotive hall the history of the Südbahn Railway (Vienna-Trieste) with an emphasis on the route over the Semmering Pass (Semmering Railway). In a second locomotive shed a numerous collection of draisines is gathered. [German]

An electric locomotive built in 1925/26. The nickname of this class of locomotives is ‘Austrian Crocodile’. These locomotives used to drive heavy trains along the mountain routes of Austria. [German]

These sundials in Svätý Jur were the first ones I have ever seen, which were built around a corner.
