On my night stroll through the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, an industrial heritage park in the Ruhr area, I came across this torpedo car. These cars are used for hauling molten pig iron from the blast furnace to the next processing unit.
Some years ago I even came across a train of torpedo cars while waiting at the railway station of Völklingen. I was especially impressed by the flames one can see on top of the cars. Have you ever seen such cars in your region?
