I took this skyline pic of Berlin from the top of the Victory Column (Siegessäule). On the left side, you see the modern television tower of Berlin, the Fernsehturm. The Greek cross on the sphere is often called “The Pope’s Revenge”.
The Pope’s Revenge in Berlin
This joke refers to the fact that the administration of the former German Democratic Republic was known for its antireligious attitude. The officials were probably not amused that everybody in Berlin could see a Greek cross in the sphere. This symbol is just a sun reflection evoked by the sphere construction.
