Artwork at the Präsidentschaftskanzlei in Vienna, Austria

In this picture, my shadow is standing on public art created by the Austrian artist Eva Schlegel. The artwork appears on the soil in front of the Office of the Federal President of Austria in Vienna.

Wir stehen auf Sprachen

The work titled Wir stehen auf Sprachen refers to a German pun. In German, the phrase ‘Wir stehen auf …’ has a double meaning. It could mean we are standing on top of something, or we are enthusiastic about doing something.

In this artwork, the name Präsidentschaftskanzlei (Office of the Federal President) is written in seven different languages. Standing on this work also means starting to learn about love languages. Well, at least my shadow loves to do so.

By the way, the seven languages are considered the languages of autochthonous peoples living in Austria: Croatian, Czech, Hungarian, Romani, Slovak, Slovenian, and German.
