The Zwehrenturm
The Zwehrenturm, once part of Kassel’s city wall, served as a prison and observatory. In the 18th century, it was integrated into the newly built. Fridericianum museum building. Despite its medieval roots, today it fits harmoniously into the Fridericianum, the first purely classical building in Germany.
The sundial
The sundial forms a splash of colour on the facade of the Zwehrenturm, which is kept in a strict classical white colouration. The golden zodiac signs stand out clearly against the blue background. Multiple hour lines evoke a magical appearance, and the Roman numerals on the hours give it an additional classical touch.
