‘The early bird gets the worm’, but the early cat gets the breakfast! A fun experience while staying in Kukmirn, a pretty rural place in the Austrian state Burgenland.

Sometimes I am having a picnic at the Burggarten of Graz. This is a park next to the former castle of Graz. It happens to be a beautiful dog posed right in front of my camera this time. Isn’t it a cutie?

A cute project in Haus, a place in the Austrian province Styria: Schafsinn. At a mountain next to Haus, there is a theme path where people are told about sheep. Besides reading the info boards along the trail, you also meet the sheep grazing up and down the hill.

At a watch post for birds on the Neusiedler Lake (Neusiedler See). Are you interested in birdwatching? Every two years, the Pannonian BirdExperience takes place at the National Park Neusiedler See-Seewinkel.

On my biking tour along the Neusiedler See, I came across a special breed of curly-hair hog. In Austria, they are called Mangalitza. One can often see this name on the restaurant’s menus in that part of Burgenland.

Action! On my way back home from the rose mound of Schloss Eggenberg, a peacock blocked my way. I tried to frighten him by looking squarely into his eyes – but he had so many of them! So I went back on a different path.

Today I visited a reading in Vienna. Star of the event was the dog Pecorino. He and his master became famous for doing a pilgrimage in Italy. Pecorino is considered to be the first dog who owns a pilgrimage pass.

After my trip to the Reservoir Mooserboden, I continued with a llama trekking tour. In general, animals help to slow things down. But I didn’t know Mozart at that time. He was hungry and tried to stop at every bush. So I spend the next hour persuading a llama to go on.

A peacock who knows how to pose is seen on the grounds of Eggenberg Palace (Schloss Eggenberg) in Graz. Since 2010, this palace has been listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.

While visiting Schloss Ambras (Ambras Castle) in Innsbruck, I came across this peacock. The beautiful bird walked confidently into the ticket shop of the castle. I wonder what he did there? Any ideas?

While walking on the grounds of Ambras Castle (Schloss Ambras), I came across this Mandarin Duck. I love these animals for their colours and elegance.

While staying at Hohenwerfen Fortress I took this photo of an eagle in front of the Tennengebirge (Tennen Mountains). It reminds me of the fact that this fortress was a site of the film ‘Where Eagles Dare’ taken in the year 1968.
