Stadtschrift, an association for the collection, preservation and documentation of historic facade signs created this open air exhibition at a fire wall in Vienna. I love the idea to show them in public instead of a presentation inside a hall. So we can see these signs in a way we used to do on our walks to school or job in earlier times.

Monument to Rudolf v. Alt in Vienna
This monument next to the Minorites Church (Minoritenkirche) is dedicated to the Austrian landscape and architectural painter Rudolf v. Alt. I loves his works because they show me how Austria looked like before photographers started to take pictures of Austrian sceneries and sights.
Shop sign of an interior decorator in Linz
Shop sign of a furniture shop and interior decorator in Linz. Love the way how the creator of this sign describes the service of this shop.
Steam locomotive ‘Brünn’ (1896) in Schwechat
Nice railview while passing the railway museum Schwechat (Eisenbahnmuseum Schwechat) by train. The steam locomotive “Brünn”, which saw its completion in Linz in 1896, was going for a small ride.
Rising bollard system in Salzburg
A very dangerous species living in Salzburg City is the rising bollard. Joking apart it is important to know, they are very strong and are able to damage a car if they hit it from below. Not sure if this species will live there forever but for now it is worth a look to check out the attached website.
Kunsthalle at Karlsplatz in Vienna
This exhibition hall at the Karlsplatz in Vienna is an outpost of the Kunsthalle at the Museumsquartier. By the way, the bird-like sculpture at the right edge of this pic is an owl decorating the library of the Vienna University of Technology.
Commemorative plaque for Frédéric Chopin in Vienna
This commemorative plaque for Frédéric Chopin is placed at the address Kohlmarkt 9 (1st district of Vienna) where the Polish composer used to stay from November 1830 to July 1831 in a meanwhile demolished building.
ÖSWAG shipyard in Linz
On a harbour tour with a boat of the company ‘Wurm+Köck’ in Linz, we also entered this shipyard founded in 1840 and still producing and overhauling ships. My first impression: ‘Gosh, how neat and green such a slipway can be’.
New Cathedral of Linz
Speaking in terms of space the New Cathedral of Linz (Neuer Dom) is the largest church of Austria. It is even larger than St Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna. This photo was taken from the top of a wooden tower named Keine Sorgen Turm, which has been erected for the event Höhenrausch.
Kellertheater in Linz
One of my favourite diversions: Taking photos of decorations which don’t fit to the geography of the region. So I took this pic of an elephant seen at a building at the main square of Linz. The house is also known for being the home of a cellar theatre (Kellertheater) which generally performs comedies.
Mozarthaus in Linz
During a stopover in Linz, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote the Symphony No. 36 (Linz Symphony) in this building located in the historic centre of the city. The Mozarthaus isn’t open for public but the inner court is worth a visit though.
No Sorrows Tower in Linz
While having lunch at the restaurant Schlossbrasserie on top of the castle hill, I caught sight of this remarkable tower. The 30-metre high tower made of wood is named No Sorrow Tower (Keine-Sorgen-Turm) and is part of the event Höhenrausch. Later, I had a good view of the New Cathedral from there.
