The Maximilianpark is a leisure park on the grounds of a former colliery in Hamm. The landmark of the park is this glass elephant created by architect Horst Rellecke. On top of it one have a fine view over the park and the surrounding Westphalian countryside.

The Roman Tower (Römerturm) is one of several towers in Cologne dating back to Roman times. At the time of the Romans, the city was called Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium. A strong wall with a total of 19 towers surrounded the ancient city. Remains of this wall are still visible today. [German]
