The rebuilt central station of Salzburg still uses some elements of the old railway station. For example, 100+-year-old tile paintings and lamps like the one shown above provide a vintage feeling in the entrance hall.

Monument to Sisi in Salzburg
For many years the railway between Vienna and Salzburg bore the name of Empress Elisabeth of Austria (‘Sisi’). This monument of her stands next to the railway station of Salzburg. You’ll find another Sisi sculpture in the hall of the Vienna West Station.
Sundial near Mozartplatz in Salzburg
This sundial is placed at a former tower of Salzburg between Mozartplatz and Rudolfskai. The tower is a remnant of the city walls of Salzburg.
Unicorn at Mirabell Gardens
Near one of the entrances to the Mirabell Gardens (Mirabellgarten), I saw this sculpture of an unicorn. But this was not the only lively statue in this park of Salzburg City. So I also came across a sunbathing lion.
The Sound of Music cow
A cow painted with scenes of the movie “The Sound of Music”. This piece stands next to a booth in Salzburg where people buy tickets for bus tours to the sets of this famous American movie.

Sculpture of a cat seen near Mirabell Palace (Schloss Mirabell) in Salzburg City. This palace was built by Archbishop Wolf Dietrich Raitenau in 1606 and was dedicated to his secret wife Salome Alt and their 15 children.

A dreamy place for a dinner in Salzburg is the inneryard of the restaurant St. Peter Stiftskeller. This site was first mentioned in the year 803 by the scholar Alcuin – a follower of Charlemagne.
Cathedral of Salzburg
The cathedral of Salzburg (Dom zu Salzburg) saw its completion in the 17th century. In the background, one can see the funicular up to Hohensalzburg Fortress. Interesting detail: While visiting the Dommuseum, I saw the nave from above. The museum is integrated into the cathedral.
Public inner yard in Salzburg
This pic shows one of the numerous public inner yards connecting the shopping lane Getreidegasse with parallel streets in the city of Salzburg. The local name for the surrounding buildings is Durchhäuser (through-houses).

View from the Steinterasse to the Salzburg roof landscape. The Steinterasse is a café on top of Hotel Stein. From there, you have a panorama view of the most iconic sights of Salzburg. In addition, you also look at the small-structured roof landscape near the Steingasse and the Kapuzinerberg.

A historical mural seen in the Linzergasse shows position and appearance of a gate called Linzertor. This gate was built in 1616 and demolished in 1894.
