While waiting for the delayed train to Hanau I realized that the exact delay of a train is a matter of language.

After a short walk through the snowy Leipzig, I had a cup of coffee at Kaffeehaus Riquet. The café was built in 1908/1909 by Paul Lange. It offers a very stylish interior.

Benrath Palace (Schloss Benrath) saw its construction between 1755 and 1773. The number of floors differs between the outside and the courtyard side. The servants’ rooms on the inside are lower than the staterooms on the outside.

The railway station of Bad Mitterndorf is part of the Salzkammergut Railway (Salzkammergutbahn), where you can still see typical Austrian railway stations of the 19th century. I took this photo while sitting on a waiting train opposite the station building.

The Kunsthaus Bregenz is known not only as one of the leading houses for contemporary art but also for its facade, which is made of 712 glass parts. I took the photo from the nearby railway line and was amazed by the similar colours in the windows, sky and trees. [German]

One of the smallest houses I have ever seen: This building with the address Kirchstrasse N° 29. [German]

On my rail trips through Austria, I often change the train in Bischofshofen. That’s a railway station in the middle of the mountains of the Austrian state of Salzburg. The mountain range in the background is named Tennengebirge.

The charm of travelling single-track railways in Austria is that while waiting for the opposite train, you can watch cattle grazing in a lovely landscape. I took this photo at a siding between Stainach and Schladming in the Austrian state of Styria.

The Salzburg Cathedral (Dom zu Salzburg) saw its construction in the 17th century. In the background, you find the funicular up to Hohensalzburg Fortress. Interesting detail: From the Cathedral Museum (Dommuseum), you see the nave from above.

This pic shows one of the numerous public inner yards connecting the shopping lane Getreidegasse with parallel streets in the city of Salzburg. The local name for the surrounding buildings is Durchhäuser (through-houses).

View from the Steinterasse to the Salzburg roof landscape. The Steinterasse is a café on top of Hotel Stein. From there, you have a panorama view of the most iconic sights of Salzburg. In addition, you also look at the small-structured roof landscape near the Steingasse and the Kapuzinerberg.
