Before the invention of photos, a different method existed for learning new things about the world. Landscapists created huge paintings of cities and scenes. Inside the Panorama Museum, visitors find a depiction of Salzburg dating back to 1829.

The museum is part of the Salzburg Museum. For many years, I visited its rooms in a building near the Salzburg Cathedral. In 2026, it opened at its new location next to the Mirabell Gardens.
