I came across this colourful street name sign next to the railway station Keleti Pu. I love such signs, which show more than just the street name.

I came across this colourful street name sign next to the railway station Keleti Pu. I love such signs, which show more than just the street name.

On my way to Grad Castle in Slovenia I came across this traffic sign. I wonder what kind of animal is shown on this sign? Perhaps an otter? My first thought was about a beaver because these animals are known for undermining everything. Even traffic signs 🙂

On my way to the Kunsthaus in Vienna, I often pass a magic shop. I love the idea of promoting this shop with a rabbit and hat sculpture.

On an urban walk through Graz, I saw this manipulated traffic sign. Someone obviously thought there should be a separate pathway for Superman.

On my walk through Friesach I came across this fun shop sign at the storefront of a shoe shop. It shows a ‘Trojan Boot’ (Der trojanische Stiefel)

I saw this sign next to the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum (Museum of Military History) in Vienna. The bark of the tree made me think the sign was pretty old.
This is an interesting sign I saw at a restaurant in Wels, Austria. It says that the 10th glass of beer is paid by the mayor. Not sure if this a joke or a promise.

During my walk through Velden I came across this sign at the driveway of a hotel. I think the message drove the point home, didn’t it? 🙂

In the winter of 179/180, Marcus Valerius Maximianus and the Roman Legio II Adiutrix camped in the Vah valley. They were on a campaign against the Quadi at this time. They left this inscription on a rock of the later Trenčín. [German]

While waiting for the delayed train to Hanau I realized that the exact delay of a train is a matter of language.

The German language is known for its pretty long compound words. Have a look at this sign seen in the Bavarian city of Passau. Yes, the word is real!
