The former cigarette factory building was designed by architect Martin Hammitzsch in 1907. The company name referred to the Ottoman place Yenidze (the Greek Genisea of today), where the tobacco was bought from. Today, the house serves as an office building. [German]
Austria is not a natural home for elephants, leaving aside prehistoric ages. Nevertheless, you often find their depictions on old facades. For example, this inn in Scheibbs has been known as “Zum Schwarzen Elefanten” (Black Elephant Inn) since 1541.
After a long walk along the Bauhaus architecture of Dessau, it was time for dinner. According to the topic of the day, we chose a building in Bauhaus style. The Restaurant Kornhaus was designed by the architect Carl Fieger in 1929/30. [German]
The Renaissance restaurant in Visegrád is actually a modern restaurant decorated in a medieval-like style. While listening to a lute player, guests have a solid meal served in earthenware. Personally, I loved the red cabbage I had with the deer stew.

At the Schreiber Inn (Gasthaus Schreiber) next to the former railway station of Poysdorf I had some greaves dumplings with Veltliner sauerkraut for lunch. Poysdorf is known for vineyards full of Green Veltliner so you will often see Veltliner Sauerkraut in the menus of local gastronomy.
The Braumeisterstube is part of the Sternbräu Restaurant in Salzburg. This restaurant was first mentioned in 1542 and offers several old and modern rooms for having a glass of beer or a traditional meal. After a big renovation in 2013/2014 the Braumeisterstube is still decorated in an old style, e.g. the paintings show historical scenes related to beer. [German]
You find this inn sign on a traditional restaurant in Salzburg. The name “Zum fidelen Affen” literally means “Merry Monkey”.
The restaurant Speisesaal is located on the ground floor of Hotel Wiesler. I think it is an ideal venue for having a burger or steak while listening to music presented by a DJ.
The restaurant Hauptschalthaus is located in the former control center of an iron works in Duisburg. The main attraction of the restaurant is the dining area in front of some huge insulators. Through the big windows one also have a good view of the iron works situated at the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord.
At the end of our day in Bonn we had dinner at a wine bistro named ELBE am Rhein, located next to the river Rhine. Due of some rain we had our meal inside where we were surrounded by a lot of colorful paintings which evoked a lot of talk while waiting for the first course.
The Starcke Haus stands on a rock named Schloßberg in the middle of Graz. The German actor Gustav Starcke (1848-1921) lived here for many years and wrote some poems about the Schloßberg. Today, it houses a restaurant where one can have a fine meal with a view of Graz.
