Old Gotthard mail coach
Right opposite Zurich Central Station you find the Landesmuseum Zürich (Swiss National Museum). I had some time to spend and looked at several exhibits outside the museum. So I discovered this Gotthard Mail Coach.
Locomotive NkNb 1-3 (1882) in Budapest
Steam locomotive NkNb 1-3 built in 1882 seen on the grounds of the Transport Museum of Budapest. The locomotive was originally built for the railroad Nagykikinda–Nagybecskerek and changed into an industrial locomotive for a chemistry work in Budapest later.

As I love to travel by train and to visit museums it is no question that a museum next to a railway station would me make happy. So where are such museums near a train station?
Museum of Slovenian Railways in Ljubljana
During a walk on the grounds of the Museum of Slovenian Railways, I came across decommissioned locomotives and carriages. A place with fascinating objects at every turn.
Agricultural museum at Fürthermoar Alm
After having a snack with a tasty piece of local butter produced with a mould I visited this museum about traditional farmer tools located at an alp named Fürthermoar Alm. In the background you can see the Moosersperre dam where I spent the forenoon.
‘Power and Ice Adventure World’ near Kaprun
This exhibition hall named ‘Erlebniswelt Strom & Eis’ (Power & Ice Adventure World) is placed next to the Mooserboden Reservoir near Kaprun. Inside one can learn about the history of Kaprun power plant project and about the glacier ice in the surroundings.
Golling Castle in Golling / Salzach
On a train journey from Bischofshofen to Salzburg, I took this photo of Golling Castle (Burg Golling) through the train windows. The castle houses a museum of local history.
Oberhaus Fortress in Passau
I took this pic of Veste Oberhaus (Oberhaus Fortress) from the town hall square in Passau. From this fortress, one has a great view of the three rivers of Passau, which are generally visible in three different colours: Danube (Blue), Inn (Green) and Ilz (Black).

2nd Marcus Car in Mürzzuschlag
At an event performed by the Südbahnmuseum in Mürzzuschlag I had the chance to see an operating replica of the second car built by Siegfried Marcus. The original was built in 1888/1889 and is still operating too. One can see it at the Museum of Technology (Technisches Museum) in Vienna.
Tram-train in Vienna
Next to the Museum of Technology in Vienna, I came across this train of three tram cars. It is a rare view in Vienna today. A better chance to see a sample of classic tramcars is a visit to the Transport Museum Remise. Or you join a tramway tour with one of these cars.
