Probably the most known photo scene of Weimar: The monument to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller. It is located on the Theaterplatz (Theatre Square) in front of the Deutsche Nationaltheater (German National Theatre).

Bauhaus Museum in Weimar
The Bauhaus Museum displays works by teachers and students of the Bauhaus school (1919-1933), including seminal works by Walter Gropius, Johannes Itten, Lyonel Feininger and Marcel Breuer.

University of Music ‘Franz Liszt’ in Weimar
The university of music (Hochschule für Musik) was founded by Carl Muellerhartung, a pupil of composer Franz Liszt. Liszt spent several years in Weimar, encouraging the founding of a school for the education of musicians in orchestral instruments.
Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar
The Duchess Anna Amalia Library (Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek) houses a major collection of German literature and historical documents. In 2004 a large part of the library became destroyed by a terrible fire. In the ground floor there is a worth seeing exhibition telling about how scientists rescued damaged documents.
Van de Velde Building in Weimar
The Van de Velde Building was designed by Henry van de Velde for the Grand Ducal Saxon School of Arts and Crafts. Today it houses the Faculty of Art and Design of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. At the central staircase you can see a restored mural, originally made by Oskar Schlemmer.

The main building Bauhaus University was designed by Henry van de Velde to house the studios of the sculptors at the Grand Ducal Saxon Art School. The edifice is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site ‘Bauhaus and its sites in Weimar and Dessau’.

The skywalk of Leuchtenburg Castle offers not only a fine view but is also used for a fun ritual. Guests of the Porcelain Worlds are invited to write a personal wish onto a plate and to throw it down. The wish may come true.
