Trieste Campo Marzio Railway Museum

The Trieste Railway Museum (Museo ferroviario di Trieste Campo Marzio) opened in 1984. In the former entrance building, photos and small pieces bear witness to the railway era of the past. The building hasn’t been adapted that much for the needs of a museum. Visitors still enjoy the atmosphere of an old entrance building.

The photos and documents tell about regional railways. This includes:

The vehicles of the Trieste Railway Museum

The vehicles stand on the numerous tracks of the former platform hall. The roof of this hall has gone, so it is an open-air museum. Accordingly, the locomotives and wagons are in a state of decay.

Austrian, Italian and Yugoslavian vehicles can be seen in the rolling stock. There is even a German armoured car from World War II among them. The outdoor area stretches far beyond the place of the former train station hall. Amid the greenery, you will discover vintage tramcars and once-racy railcars.

Since 2017, the museum has been closed for its renovation.
